Mark Mulholland and Craig Ward CRR 1217
Mark Mulholland and Craig Ward's music represents their own take on the British folk tradition of Graham, Jansch, Renbourn et al. Friends since their teens, when both were playing in bands in Glasgow and Edinburgh in the late '80s, the two have been travelling and playing music since, crossing paths at various points along the way. Craig produced Mark's band Two Dollar Bash's third album, “Lost River”, and accompanied the band on a 5 week North American tour in 2007. Around this time, the pair started talking of recording an album together, drawing from their mutual influences of the likes of Pentangle and Nick Drake. In the course of 2010 and 2011, they met up for a series of recording sessions in Berlin, Antwerp and Rotterdam, and the resulting album, “Waiting for the Storm”, will be released in summer 2012 by Cannery Row Records and the London-based Jezus Factory Records, accompanied by a tour of the UK, Ireland and France. The line-up is completed with the addition of Belgian double-bass player Hannes d'Hoine, and the trio completed a successful tour of Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and the Czech Republic in February and March 2012. |

Trailhead, “Bodies in the Basement”, CRR 1216 Trailhead is the venture of Berlin songwriter Tobias Panwitz. Drawing from journeys through various parts of the world and musings on relations past and present, his songs are of a quiet restlessness, captured in simple, personal tunes. Combining energy laden melodies and roadside imagery, Trailhead captivates the listener with his moving off the beaten track lyrics in a way that few songwriters do.
Moments of restlessness, longing, loss and reconciliation pass you by, as Trailhead recounts his journeys along Spanish caminos, Swedish islands, Baltic coast lines Latvian rivers and American scenery.Echoing the folky americana sound of the 60s & 70s classics, the songs have the rootsy sound of Trailhead's backing band or strip down, as in his solo sets, to their calmer self of story and melody, accompanied by Panwitz' folky guitar and finger picking, piano, hamonica and ukulele. Together with his warm yet powerful vocal delivery, Trailhed's music relates to the sound of artists like Crowded House, Tom Petty, Neil Young and Jackson Browne. |

Allen Devine, “Thrillride”, CRR 1115 After spending many years in the trenches with countless American bands including stints with Boston legends Asa Brebner (Jonathan Richmans Modern Lovers) and legendary producer David Minehan (Stardarts, The Neighborhoods, Paul Westerberg) and national U.S. exposure as guitarist featured on CBS/ MTV hit „The Girl with the Curious Hand“ Allen relocated to Berlin and now releases his 5th solo disc. Self produced, this disc features 16 catchy new tracks laced with interesting melodies and complimentary vocal harmonies. “Devine has perfected the three-minute pop song” Julia R. Lord Mouse and the
Kalypso Katz
Urban Calypso for the 21st century
Release Date 30.04.2010 CRR0911
About Lord Mouse:
Excerpt from an interview with the "West
Indies Herald," 2005 "It must have
been a good while ago" muses singer Lord
Mouse from his lounge chair on the shore.
" I was singing for the big cruise ships,
the luxury ones. Well, I got work on one of
them that was going to the Carribean. That
was back before all these crazy hurricanes.
Anyways, thats were I met the rest of the
band, we were all working there together.
Well, anyhow, We docked in the Port of Spain,
thats in Trinidad. It was a fun night and
we were testing the local drinks. I honestly
don't know what happened after that, just
that I woke up the next morning with a pounding
hangover. Then I realize that I..m still in
the bar. I start to panic, because I was supposed
to have been back to the ship before midnight,
and it's now sometime in the morning. Well,
I get off the bar stool, and rush to the door,
and guess what? I trip right over the bass
player. Turns out that one of the locals had
given us some booze that's so strong even
the local drunks won't touch it. Well, I go
out side, up to the port, and sure enough,
the ship was long gone. Nothing there, just
some fishermen, pelicans, and.... Who's that
group of people there? Well, turns out the
whole band missed the ship, except one guy,
the marimba player, but nobody really liked
him much anyways. Well, we were stuck, not
much money, We'd all left our stuff in our
cabins. We were in real trouble. Well, We'd
never played Calypso, not even really heard
of it, except for that Belefonte character.
But we learned and learned fast. After about
5 months of playing on the street corners
and little cafès, We finally had our
money to get home. Well I ain't no European,
but I liked these folks, We were like a family,
so I decided to head on over to Europe and
here we are today." -As told by interviewer

Eamonn Dowd and the Racketeers
"Mansions of Gold"
Release date 23.10 2009 CRR0909
Mansions Of Gold is the title of the new
album from Eamonn Dowd & The Racketeers.
A raw rootsy affair - 11 new songs including
the singles ‘Women Around Here,’
‘45’ and ‘Sweet Angel.’
It rocks , it roll’s and it exists
in a world all of its own. You’d get
the impression that these guys don’t
give a damn about trends, radio play or commercial
success. And you’d be right ! On this
collection, Dowd lets rip on electric guitar,
producing walls of feedback. Lyrically it
takes you someplace else, another world, another
time, and throughout, Les Keye and Chris Teusner
hold down the beat. And then there’s
the plaintive ballads augmented by organ,
banjo and saxophone.
Since the mid 90’s Irish man Dowd has
fronted The Racketeers as they brought their
fiery brand of americana / rock n roll to
audiences throughout Europe, releasing four
albums along the way. In recent years Eamonn
has also toured in a solo / acoustic capacity,
blazing a trail through Germany, The Netherlands,
Belgium, the Baltics, USA and Canada.

fine example of gravel-voiced country rock.....these
songs are full of unaffected, unrefined humanity,
a kind of world-weary, warts 'n' all honesty
that's getting rarer in music....there is
something raw and real about The Racketeers
that's easy to love."
